Dogs dont get embarrased. His behavior was a direct reaction to your anger and he was hiding from you: “Remy was embarrassed because he went and hid as soon as he got home …”

I have to laugh at: “They assumed I would believe my dog was matted head to toe but I knew better. ” Trust me – YOU DONT. When you learn to be a professional groomer and spent the time brushing out the dog and listening to it whine, scream, growl and try to bite you as you brush out those painful mats, then you get the right to say this. Right now, you surely dont huney. You surely dont. Customers are certainly NOT always right. However…yes, the groomer SHOULD have called you and explained that the mats would require further shaving or that they would have to either charge more for the dematting or send the dog home without grooming it.

As a dog groomer, we do try to get it right. Give them a chance to do a do over for you. Secondly, dont lump us all together. Some groomers dont listen well at all. Some of us do. Just like people – we are not all the same. You’re not the same as all women are you? No. Or the same as all dog owners? No. Also, please realize that dog groomers have their own lingo that doesnt always transfer into what customers understand. “Trunk-like” means nothing to me as a dog groomer. I have no idea what you are talking about. I would have to talk to you further to get a better idea of what you wanted. The groomer you talked to should have done this and shame on them if they didn’t. Sorry you feel so frustrated. Hope the next groomer you go to works out better for you.

I’m a dog groomer and you really should pluck the ear – hair in the ears traps dirt, debris and moisture which leads to bacterial infections. It also interferes with the dogs ability to hear. Use an ear powder and pluck close to the skin while holding the skin taught and you will not hurt the dog.

I meant to add that I don’t have any experience with the Les Pooches brush. I only recently heard of that brush on doodlekisses.com. It seems people love it. I’m planning to look into that and I will share about Les Pooches on The Emma and Remy Show when I do.

I did the same thing, shaving Remy at that point. I’ve since learned that coat actually needs to be combed out. Ahhh, we live and learn. Thanks for stopping by our blog.

I love that dematting comb, too! My big doodle Sam really had terrible mats when his coat was changing. Since he is my first doodle, I didn’t realize what was happening and should have stuck with combing out his coat. But it was so out of control with the matting and tangles, that I gave up and shaved him. Never again! I have this tool in my arsenal now, too! It works wonders.
I have a baby doodle who will be doing his own coat change next spring. I’ll be more patient and diligent…and I’ll use my new excellent grooming tool.

I’m thinking about getting a “Les Poochs” brush, too. Any experience with those?
